February 3rd is too late
Have you ever walked into a voting booth in November not liking your choices? Do you know anyone who stayed away from the polls because they didn't find a candidate who excited them?
Plenty of people have, and that's one reason why the people we want to lead us sometimes lose.
The sad fact is that by the time people realize they don't like their choice it's often too late. Decisions about who gets on that ballot happen months earlier.
That's what's happening in the Minnesota Governor's race in JUST TWO WEEKS.
On Feb. 2nd every Minnesotan can go to a precinct caucus in your neighborhood, vote in a straw poll and start electing the next Governor of Minnesota.
My chance to be Governor, and your chance to pick a Governor, depends on what happens Feb. 2nd.
Don't wake up in November and realize you don't like the choices. Get to your caucus Feb. 2nd. (Get information here to find out how easy it is to caucus.)
When you go to the caucus you will have some good choices. I could support any of them if they win the DFL Endorsement.
But the time has come to make a choice and I offer something different -- the kind of leadership we need right now to turn things around:
• With people losing their jobs, and not knowing where to find the next one, I have a proven record of putting people to work and a vision to get every part of Minnesota moving again.
• With state government grinding to a halt and the Capitol paralyzed by partisan bickering, I've shown I can make government work to get real results for people.
• With your state budget in chaos-- and no new solutions coming out of the Capital-- I have balanced eight straight budgets and gotten the largest city in the state onto solid financial ground.
• I am the only person in the race with the executive experience we need to get Minnesota out of the financial mess that is jeopardizing the quality of our schools, basic services like police and fire, access to quality health care, and so much more.
More than anything, while most of us in the race have good experience in government, I've shown that true leadership is about more than just what happens inside the walls of government. The leadership we have shown delivering results in some of the toughest times has brought together a whole community. That's the kind of hands on, inspirational leadership we need to make Minnesota America's brainpower state, America’s healthiest state, and a job-creation engine in the new economy. Government can't do all that, but a Governor can if he is the kind of leader who taps the true power of all of Minnesota.
I was born in a great state and I'm not going to retire in a mediocre one. This is Minnesota. We can do better and with the right leadership we will.
Your chance to do that starts at the Feb. 2nd caucuses.
Will you show up?
Will you bring a friend?
Will you make a contribution, no matter what size, to help us reach out to everyone?
